Yes, there are reasons to be grateful for divorce

Although it seems counterintuitive, it's important to remember that there are some reasons to be thankful and even grateful for divorce.Divorce is stressful, but in the end, it can mean that you end up in a better, safer environment or one that is more appropriate for your child.

One good thing you can thank divorce for is finding out who your true support system includes. Whether it's family or friends, those who want to be there for you will be. You'll know who has your back in times of crisis.

Another thing that divorce results in is a group of new traditions. If you can't do the things you did in previous years during the holidays, you'll find something new to do. These new traditions become your own, giving you something to look forward to that you never would have experienced in your marriage.

Even better, if you had a relationship where you felt constantly under pressure or threatened, not being in that relationship now gives you more freedom. You can do what you want when you want, and you don't have to answer to anyone about your decisions. Even if you still have to interact with your ex-spouse due to child custody or visitation requirements, you aren't under his or her thumb any longer, giving you peace of mind.

Divorces aren't fun for anyone, and they do cause stress. Despite that, there are often things to be thankful for. Try to stay positive during your divorce, so you can see the good that may come of it in the future.
